Gettysburg is your four season destination. Join us in Spring to celebrate our agrarian roots and the start of the apple season. Come back again in Summer for festivals and the annual re-enactment. Come Fall, there are plenty of fun things to do along with the opportunity to relive historic events like the Gettysburg Address. When Winter arrives, we'll be ready for you with wonderful museums and exciting outdoor activities including skiing and much more.
Re-enactment of the Battle of Gettysburg
Let the history books come alive with the re-enactment of the Battle of Gettysburg. You can see battle reenactments, field demonstrations, a large living history village, living history activity tents, guest speakers, and an extensive Sutler area. Thousands of reenactors from across the nation and around the world will be staging the battle reenactments for this very special reenactment. Find out more.

Apple Harvest Festival
The National Apple Harvest Festival, which is held during the first two weekends in October, has been celebrating beautiful crafts, great music and wonderful food for forty-nine years. Find out more.

Putting on the General; Dressing the Lady

Veteran reenactors, Patrick and Joanne Dunigan will entertain and educate us at a luncheon at the Dobbin House at noon. For anyone who has considered becoming a reenactor, this is a not to be missed event. In the evening we will join the Civil War Dance group at the Fairfield Town Hall for an informal evening of Civil War dance. A luncheon buffet will be served. Find out more.

President Lincoln comes to Town

The day starts at the National Cemetery for a walk with a Licensed Battlefield Guide. He shares the story of how the cemetery came to be and the visit paid by President Lincoln on November 19, 1863 when he delivered one of the most famous speeches in American history.
